Renowned as one of Australia’s enduring luxury resorts, Tropical North Queensland hideaway Silky Oaks Lodge reopened in December 2021 following a multimillion-dollar rebuild by the team at Baillie Lodges, bringing their globally lauded style and sensitivity to a genuinely iconic lodge and location in the World Heritage-listed Daintree Rainforest.
Hunt Design reimagined a new-look main lodge features a sweeping elevated roof structure open to the sights and sounds of the rainforest. Careful consideration was given to keep as much of the tree canopy as possible to allow patrons to immerse themselves in the rainforest.
The main dining deck provides uninterrupted views to the Mossman River below with new banquette lounges and joinery by Pike Withers.
Nearby, the private Kubirri Room offers a flexible air-conditioned space for quiet reading, private dining and meetings.
A reference to the Queenslander is made through the utilisation of white VJ wall treatments, set off by highly detailed timber joinery pieces.
Hunt design also designed the resorts benchmark luxury accommodation offering, the Daintree Pavilion. Set, deep in the rainforest, the folding scallion roofs seems to float above expansive decks and the tiered infinity pool.
Designed for privacy, two separate sleeping areas each offer an ensuite bathroom opening to an outdoor atrium with bath under the treetops.
